Balancing Independence and Intimacy in Relationships - Where Attachment Theory meets real life.

Do you lean toward independence or intimacy in relationships? Most of us favor one over the other — and it shapes everything about how we love.

This Meetup is for anyone who wants to love better — whether you're simply curious, actively dating or in a committed relationship.

We all lean one way or the other — toward autonomy (selfing) or toward communion (othering). Neither is wrong. Both are necessary. But most of us are stronger in one than the other.

Healthy relationships breathe — inhaling through selfing, the grounded awareness of who you are and what you need, and exhaling through communion, the generous movement toward togetherness and intimacy.

We tend to attract our opposite — and this is not an accident. These pairings are invitations for growth. Each partner carries what the other needs to develop. We are, in a sense, each other's teachers. But without self awareness this can lead to a lot of pain and conflict.

When taken to an extreme, these tendencies become rigid patterns: too much autonomy hardens into avoidant attachment and selfishness; too much communion collapses into anxious attachment and co-dependence.

This Meetup is your opportunity to gain self-awareness, upgrade your relationship skills, and learn to express your needs in ways that build connection rather than conflict. Stretch yourself. Become a better partner.

The relationship you want is possible. It begins with understanding yourself.
